It is December, Right?

This happy Christmas mood I am having this year is starting to freak me out a bit.

Things are getting done, and earlier than normal at that, even with Luke gone for the week. Christmas shopping is moving along nicely, the Christmas cards have been ordered, printed and picked up and we have already had our annual cookie baking day to get a jump on all the cookies that the family bakes and consumes this time of year.

Usually by now I am pacing the aisles of every store in town trying to figure out what the heck to give as gifts, and trying desperately to find a picture of the Evolving Mommy family that features all three of our faces in semi-decent expressions for Christmas cards. Not this year.

And the kicker so far, no stress and no anxiety anywhere in sight, just happy moods and excitement. I will admit that I have had a couple of Christmas Elves helping me here and there.

Apparently my Christmas Elves prefer the "clustered ornament design" for the trees they decorate. While I appreciate their vision I decided to go with the more traditional "evenly spread ornament design" for the tree this year. I guess I am just a little old fashioned and their cutting edge cluster "look" is just too modern for me.

It never fails I get so much motivation to tackle projects while Luke is out of town. Now if only I could transfer some of that motivation to doing the normal everyday tasks, like laundry and dishes, that I seem to lose all motivation for every time he leaves.

Now I'm off to address and stamp the mountainous pile of Christmas cards residing on my table.

Maybe I could coax my "Christmas Elves" to vacuum, make the bed and take care of the wash. At least until Luke gets home and my housework motivation returns. Don't tell me, there are probably Elf Labor Laws against having elves do your housework so that you can handle other things though, right?

It seems most everyone I know has had a jumpstart to the season .... except me.

My elves are killing me over here....slowly.

You are lucky to have a photo of the 3 of you, Little One always ends up on our cards. I told Matt that this Sunday we are going to get photos of the 2 of us and the 3 of us. He is so bad to get in photos.

Cute post!

My kids still go for the cluster style of tree decorating. I usually let them have their fun and then spread them out after they are sleeping.

I can't wait to get your Christmas card. It looks cute from afar. I am sucking this year. I picked up our Christmas cards before Thanksgiving and addressed at least half of them at my dad's. The other half are still waiting for my attention. My goal is my Monday to have them all in the mail.

I am feeling quite grumpy lately and not in the Christmas spirit but hopefully it will come.

Elf labor laws don't apply when you have willing helpers. You may have to re-do what the do but encourage the helpfulness while it lasts. Kids that age get a kick out of sweeping and washing dishes and putting away laundry even if they don't do it to our standards.

Love ya!

Darn those christmas cards, I keep forgetting to pick some up. At this rate, it will be Christmas Eve before I get them addressed, stamped and sent off the post office!

(Your cards look so cute!)

Sounds like you are doing great with Christmas preparations this year! I am feeling very good about it too. Shopping almost done, cards sent out. I can't complain! We have the cluttered look on our tree too and we also have a few ornaments that need to come off on a daily basis because they are just too fun to not play with!

oh my gosh! I just want to hug and squeeze them they are so cute. My tree has an interesting motif, too. There are all the nice pretty ones up top with all the ones requiring batteries on the bottom, with nothing on the very bottom due to the youngest and cats. Not gonna make it into Better Homes & Gardens I don't think.
