Maddy likes vegetables. Probably more than the average four-year-old. Even with that said there are only so many raw veggies that seemed to get eaten if I pack them in the lunch. Carrots are always a winner and broccoli too. If I try to get sneaky and toss in a sugar snap pea or cauliflower they always make their way back home floating around lonely in her lunchbox. Until I can get the girl who loves cooked peas and cauliflower to eat a sugar snap pea or some raw cauliflower I’ll stick with what works. Okay really I’ll push the envelope here and there, don’t want her getting too comfortable in her current lunchbox vegetable ways.

What’s in the bento box:

  • Mini whole wheat pita stuffed with oven roasted turkey, colby-jack cheese, leaf lettuce and mustard
  • Orange slices
  • Broccoli
  • A side of raisins and cranberries as a treat

Wherever you put it, make it part of your routine to refer to it every day. For example, you can put it on the inside of the bathroom cabinet where you get your toothpaste.-
