    triple berry puff pancake

A while back Madeline and I set about to make a magical weekend breakfast together. Somehow Delaney decided to take a morning nap making cooking with my big girl a zillion times easier. Madeline and I looked through our pantry, freezers and refrigerator and decided on an oven pancake with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. We played around. Mixing and measuring, pouring and laughing together. It was perfect. I love cooking with Madeline. I’m sure I’ll love cooking with Delaney too. There is something magical about cooking with your children. When our baked pancake emerged from

    Thai Peanut Butter Chicken

It’s National Peanut Butter Day! We loves the peanut butters in this house. We work through about a jar of peanut butter a week. I don’t know if I should be proud or embarrassed by this but it is what it is. I prefer crunchy, Madeline prefers creamy and Luke prefers whatever he can get his hands on first. In Celebration of National Peanut Butter Day I searched the recesses of the Evolving Mommy archives to bring to you some of the Evolving Mommy Household’s favorite peanut butter recipes. Luke rejoices every time Thai Peanut Chicken makes it onto the

    Chicken and Spinach Lasagna Rollups

I’m about to lay some truth out for you. Cooking just isn’t as fun any more. Wait, let me back up. Cooking is fun. I love cooking. A five-year-old, a seven-month-old, a tight night time schedule with a small window between school pick-up and bedtime, homework and all the things, just All. The. Things. and I’ve sort of lost that warm and fussy feeling I used to get when it came time to make dinner. I’m working on getting my kitchen-mojo back though. I love cooking and I don’t want life to get in the

    Harvest Apple Salad

I often wonder what other people are eating. As I sit down to one of my mid-day to meals I can’t help but think about what other people might be munching. I love to see the plates of other’s, it inspires me to think creatively, try new things and helps point me in the right direction. So it dawned on me. Why not share what I’m eating? Maybe my lunch menu will come in handy for someone else. Lunch around here doesn’t just have to be about the kids right? I’m sort of into salads

Acorn squash, Red potato and Andouille Sausage Hash

There is something about fall. I just can’t help but love it. The cooler weather. The changing colors. The boots and scarves. The family traditions. And the flavors, let’s not forget the flavors. I love pumpkin and pear and greens. I love squash and sweet potato and warming spices like cinnamon and cloves. Really who doesn’t. Fall and all it’s deliciousness just puts me in the mood to cook. I also love my big cast iron skillet. What do you get when I marry my love of fall veggies plus love of cooking with my

    Banana Nut Pancakes

Each week as I write the grocery list I ask Luke and Maddy if there is anything they think we need from the store. Each week one of them tells me to buy bananas, the other tells me to get flossers – even though she has a stockpile to clean her teeth with. The problem with the weekly request for bananas is the almost weekly neglect of those same bananas. News flash! Bananas don’t last forever folks! Maybe Luke’s secret plan is to have a never ending supply of bananas in the freezer for banana

  • 6 Ways One Of Our Favorite Foods Gets Used In The Evolving Mommy Kitchen

Pumpkin Pancakes with Maple Flavored Yogurt

Is there a food in your house that gets eaten as fast as you buy it? A family favorite? We love granola and granola bars. Apples disappear as if there are twice as many people living here. And yogurt. Yogurt is a daily staple and not just in the normal expected ways. Although we do enjoy a good bowl of yogurt. Whether it’s spelled yogurt or yoghurt we use it and a lot of it. As a topping for pumpkin pancakes. Or blueberry pancakes. Or banana nut pancakes. Or good ol’ plain whole wheat pancakes
