With a new baby in the house we are all focused on firsts. First solid food, first time rolling over, first time sleeping through the night, first giggles and smiles. We’re all so excited to see what Delaney will do next and we’re all excited to capture memories as her firsts too. This time of year is full of first memories waiting to be captured. First trip to the pumpkin patch. First Halloween and the adorable costume that went with it. First Thanksgiving and tiny turkey handprints. First experience with fluffy white snow. First awestruck look at

Maddy is tucked into bed. A solid purple polo shirt, navy skort and little white socks are laid out on her bedroom floor. Her lunch is made and her backpack is packed. Tomorrow is one of those milestone days. A day not likely to stand out to her in the years and years of first days of school to come. It’s funny such a milestone day – the first day of years of schooling – will probably not stand out to her but I know it will stand out to me. The process of getting

  • Clues I’m Having a Baby Soon

    #cluesImhavingababysoon

Our due date is quickly approaching and I reach full term pregnancy status this week. Obviously those are some pretty major clues I’m having a baby soon, but if you take a closer look and use an observant eye you just might notice more clues to this babies impending arrival… I can’t see my toes. Or reach them comfortably, so really it’s like they aren’t even there. Last minute baby room sewing projects cover my kitchen island. Large batches of food are making their way through my kitchen to the freezer. The last trip to

    Super Strawberry Goody Bag

I really love the month of may. The weather starts warming up. The days are sunny and warm and the nights are still cool. Memorial Day weekend with it’s kick off of summer and the first opportunity of the season to do some camping is always reason to love May too. You know what else makes May so darn lovely? Strawberries. May is National Strawberry Month. Since I was a little girl helping my grandma pick strawberries from her garden I have had a deep and everlasting love of red ripe strawberries. A good strawberry

    Eggs

What in your life consistently brings you joy? Food makes me happy. Not just eating it, but preparing it, shopping for it and reading recipes in cookbook after cookbook too. I like imagining what things will taste like. I like the way beautiful food looks on my plate just before I take my first bite. I love trying new things and branching out to new flavors. A perfect tomato is a work of art. The smell of freshly baked bread is dreamy. I can always count on a trip to the farmer’s market or an afternoon

    Its A Girl!

You know those moments where life catches you off guard and just a glimpse of something can take your breath away and before you know it you have tears in your eyes. I had one of those moments today in a small pale blue and dimly lit hospital room. While laying on my back, belly covered in goo, a perfect silhouette flashed on the large TV sized flat screen in front of me. The ultrasound tech hurried to move the wand back to the sweet spot, but it didn’t matter Luke, Maddy and I had already seen it. And

    Devil's Thumb Ranch

With the whirlwind of buying a new home, selling our current home, pregnancy and preparing for a baby I find myself daydreaming about a relaxing night I spent at Devil’s Thumb Ranch last fall. Delicious food, fun friends, relaxing spa time, yoga overlooking a beautiful view, a fun and educational cooking class and time to myself in front of the fireplace or in the huge tub in my cozy room. As Valentine’s day nears I’m reminded how much I would like to bring Luke to Devil’s Thumb Ranch for a weekend getaway. Maybe a hike
